LedgerLine Debt Payoff
Turn a pile of debts into a clear plan with a finish line. Enter what you owe and what you can pay each month, and it tells you the exact order to pay things off, the date you will be debt-free, and the total interest you will pay.
The difference
What makes it different
Snowball and Avalanche, side by side
Most tools pick one. This one does both. Snowball clears your smallest balances first to keep you motivated. Avalanche targets your highest interest rate first to save the most money. Flip the method on the Setup tab and instantly compare.
A real debt-free date
The plan works out exactly how many months it will take and the month you will be clear, based on your own numbers.
It shows the true cost
See the total interest you will pay and the total amount you will pay, so the cost of the debt is never hidden.
Your attack order, spelled out
A simple ranked list tells you which debt to hit first, second and third, and the month each one is cleared. No guesswork.
The rollover is built in
You pay the minimum on every debt, then every spare dollar goes onto the top debt. When that debt is gone, its old payment rolls onto the next one, so the payoff speeds up as you go.
It checks your budget
If your monthly budget is below your total minimum payments, it tells you, and shows how much spare you have to attack debt.
How it works
About five minutes to a plan
- 1
Make your own copy. In Google Sheets use File then Make a copy. In Excel just open it.
- 2
On the Setup tab, pick Snowball or Avalanche, set your monthly budget for debt, and list your debts (balance, interest rate, minimum payment).
- 3
Open the Payoff Plan tab for your debt-free date, your total interest, and the exact order to pay things off.

What this product is not

Questions
Frequently asked
Should I choose Snowball or Avalanche?
Try both; it takes one click. Snowball clears the smallest balances first, which keeps motivation high. Avalanche targets the highest interest rate first, which usually saves more money. The workbook shows the debt-free date and total interest for each, so you can decide with real numbers.
How many debts can it handle?
Up to eight debts: credit cards, personal loans, car loans, Buy-Now-Pay-Later, anything with a balance, a rate and a minimum payment.
Will this work in Excel and Google Sheets?
Yes. It is a plain .xlsx that works in free Excel or free Google Sheets, on Windows, Mac, phones and tablets.
Are there macros?
No. Everything is live formulas, so it calculates the moment you open it. No macro warnings and nothing to enable.
Are the figures exact?
They are estimates based on your inputs, and they assume steady interest rates and on-time payments. They are a plan, not financial advice.
